Farm-to-Market Camp
TIME: Mon.–Fri., 9:00 AM–3:00 PM • FEE: $625 per camper
DATES: August 1-5 and 8-12 (2 week session)
AGES: 11–14 • LIMIT: 12 campers
Be part of the action at the Hampshire College Farm Center! Spend mornings getting your hands dirty in the fields and livestock barns helping college farm staff with daily jobs and special farm projects. Morning chores may include harvesting vegetables, moving animals to new pasture, and repairing farm structures. We will work hard in the mornings with some afternoons spent preparing and sharing lunch together, selling garden produce at a local farmer's market, playing group games, going on hikes, and having some time at the end of the day for journaling, reflection, or enjoying the slip and slide. We will learn about the importance of local foods, how to grow vegetable crops from seed to harvest, sustainable farming methods, and how to care for and handle the farm animals that call Hampshire College home.
